State of Migration in Nepal uses publicly accessible information to provide an overview of the current state of different forms of migration in Nepal. Drawing mainly upon national-level surveys and censuses conducted over the last decade and more, it seeks to examine patterns of migration within Nepal, from Nepal to international destinations, and immigration into Nepal. The paper also analyses the socio-economic profile of migrants and other indicators such as reasons for migration, areas of employment, literacy levels, economic status, caste/ethnic identity, and use of remittances to provide a broad understanding of migration trends in Nepal and identify gaps in the available information.
