Migration to South Korea and Japan through government-to-government (G2G) partnerships known as the Employment Permit System (EPS) and the Japan Training Cooperation Organization (JITCO), respectively, have provided some positive experiences to migrant workers, particularly in the labour migration process, and have been hailed as international best practices on foreign labour migration. However, there is a dearth of any systematic studies that explore the social and economic impacts of these migration arrangements in Nepal. In this backdrop, CESLAM aims to conduct study of the EPS and JITCO to understand the intricacies of these models of migration, while also exploring the impact of such migration policies on aspirant and current migrant workers.
